Our Founder

Born and raised in Bermuda herself, Sherrie Lynn grew up encountering her own trauma, family challenges and lived experiences with mental distress. Her knowledge of the barriers that sometimes prevent people of color in Bermuda from reaching out for therapeutic support, directly informs her counseling approach. Having lived off island for a significant period also allows for the building of trust and rapport without the client’s fear of judgement or breeches of confidentiality based on prior knowledge or personal and family history. Sherrie Lynn’s love for counseling grew as she did her own work, attending spiritual and traditional therapy, achieving her own inner healing. She is a certified Parenting Journey facilitator and a certified facilitator and expert in the areas of domestic violence, trauma, grief and loss and suicide prevention. Pneuma is dedicated to caring for and supporting clients as they courageously confront their traumatic pasts, limiting beliefs, and soul wounds, walking with them into unfamiliar places of hope joy and limitless possibilities.

Sherrie Lynn holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Counseling and an Associates in Biblical Studies from Pillar College, and a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University. As part of her licensing credentials, Sherrie Lynn completed six hundred hours of internship training providing counseling services to adults, children, and families in a domestic violence shelter in Queens, New York. Sherrie Lynn brings the standard of care required by the American Psychological Association and American Counseling Association’s code of ethics to Pneuma Counseling and to the island of Bermuda. Additionally, Sherrie continues to maintain her therapeutic knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development which is also required for the maintenance of her credentials.
